ROTARY SHARES
PRESIDENT, ROTARY CLUB OF RAFFLES CITY
It is my pleasure and honour as this year’s President to extend my welcome to members and visitors at our club’s website.
RCRC is an established club with 27 years of significant contributions to the community here and abroad therefore, I am privileged to have been called to serve as the 28th President of the Rotary Club of Raffles City.
The Rotary theme for this year is “Rotary Shares” and it is my pleasant duty to lead our club in sharing Rotary.
From both a historical and geographical perspective, Rotarians worldwide have been sharing their time, resources and expertise beyond the great Rotary family to create a better world to live in. Indeed, this year’s theme is both a reminder to Rotarians to share all that they are blessed with for the noble purpose of making a difference in someone’s life and a rallying call to share Rotary with the people around us.
“Rotary Shares” should be at the very core of the Rotary lifestyle. Sharing is a vital extension of the integral Rotary Belief: To serve beyond self. We cannot serve without sharing our time, our talents, our skills, our efforts, our resources, our love and, sometimes even our precious belongings. The Rotary motto of Service Above Self, the act of sharing goes hand in hand with serving. You really can’t do one without doing the other. There are always some sacrifices to be made. Sharing is also Giving. Yet, Sharing is not giving away the things that you don’t need, but Giving yourself truly for the good of others.
Over the past 10 years as a Rotarian, I have learnt that as we give of our personal time, effort and financial contribution, we have reaped more than we sowed. The joy and satisfaction level surges way beyond what we have put into a community project or how we have touched a human life.
Indeed, we in Rotary know only too well that in giving of ourselves in the true spirit of “Rotary Shares”, we stand to gain much in terms of fulfillment of purpose, joy and friendship.
In this wonderful organization that is Rotary, we are reminded of the role we need to play for the betterment of our fellow men - through such meaningful annual themes as Service Above Self and He Who Serves Best, Profits Most. I hold dear this Rotary year as the golden opportunity bestowed upon me to work with my passionate and dedicated Board of Directors and Officers to harness each other’s and every member’s talents to take our Club to greater heights on the wings of “Rotary Shares”.
YOU AND I CANNOT SHARE EVERYTHING – BUT EACH ONE OF US CAN SHARE SOMETHING.
