About Rotary
Rotary is a worldwide organization of business and professional leaders that provides humanitarian service, encourages high ethical standards in all vocations, and helps build goodwill and peace in the world. Approximately 1.2 million Rotarians belong to more than 31,000 Rotary clubs located in 166 countries.
Rotary's popularity spread throughout
the United States in the decade that
followed; clubs were chartered from
San Francisco to New York. By 1921,
Rotary clubs had been formed on six
continents, and the organization
adopted the name Rotary International
a year later.

About Rotary Club Raffles City
Rotary Club Raffles
City (RCRC), in retrospect was a
divinely ordained name. Back in 1980
when RCRC was formed there was no
Raffles City complex, which has now
become a landmark. Weekly meetings
were initially held in Raffles Hotel.
Now RC Raffles City meets at Singapore Cricket Club every Tuesday, 12.45pm.
RCRC was formed on the Platinum
anniversary of Rotary International
and the golden anniversary of
Singapore`s first Rotary Club, RC
Singapore. By then there were already
five other Rotary Clubs in town and
RCRC was the sixth.

Donation Appeal for
Re-construction of Primary School in
Thailand
PP Jimmy Daruwalla,
Director Community Service has
appealed to members to contribute to
the remaining RCRC Community project
for this Rotary Year, Ban Qui Pha
Hok Pr School. At the last BOD
Meeting, the original intention to
raise money from a Golf Tournament
to cover the shortfall of $20000 has
been shelved due to expected high
cost, no tax exemption & resultant
low returns.
The Board has requested members to
consider contributing $500 each
towards the project. All members of
the Board have agreed unanimously to
this appeal, with Pres Johnson
volunteering $1000. Of special note
are the previous personal
contributions of $5000 each from
Rtns Vincent Chen & Billy Lee
towards this school.
Members may wish to make their
contributions to Treasurer, PP Wee
Koon San.
